Beautifully Green

        According to Li Bai’s poem, "On Mirror Lake outspread for miles and miles, lotus lilies bloom everywhere." ("Midnight Song") The lotus pond in midsummer is boundless green. Looking around, there is a magnificent scene of "Green lotus leaves outspread as far as boundless sky". (Yang Wanli's "Go out of Jingci Temple to Farewell to Lin Zifang at Dawn") "The wind on the pool surface ripples and green leaves are exposed between the waves." (Ouyangxiu's "Lotus Leaf") The lotus pond sparkles with blue waves under the breeze, presenting a dynamic aesthetic feeling, just like the poet Wen Tingyun described in his poem "Lotus", "The green pond water waves reflecting the galaxy and the boat driving into the grassy island with the sound of ‘rolling’ oars." The green pool water sparkles with ripples and the water surface reflects the galaxy. The whirling lotus leaves seem to connect with the galaxy in the sky, which seems to be unmeasured vastness.

        I use the lotus leaf as the protagonist of the lotus pond, showing the audience the lush summer lotus pond scene. The lotus leaves in the pond are surrounded by each other and are full of active vitality. I hope to use the form of watercolor to express the freshness of the lotus leaves. Water-soluble pigments can better blend with the lotus leaves and the clear colors make the lotus leaves look lighter, like the clouds on the horizon.

        This series is mainly composed of turquoise tones, expressing the atmosphere of "the green lotus growing in a secluded spring, which is bright and fresh in the morning". The verdant lotus leaves ripple in the blue waves. The lotus is more delicate and beautiful under the background of green leaves. The dripping colors in the painting are freely swaying, and the clear pigments render the clear water of the pool and the atmosphere of the greenery of the lotus. There seems to be a lotus wind blowing on the face, with the fragrant smell.

       We can feel the various forms of lotus leaves from different perspectives, either spreading on the surface of the pool, "Green lotus leaves are dense and connected in the lotus pond" (Yao He's "Sing the Fine Lotus in the South Pool"), or swinging with the wind, "The green lotus leaves roll and sway comfortably" (Li Shen's "Twenty Poems of Xinlou·Lotus of Chongtai"). The lotus leaves are like a woman's emerald green skirt, dancing and flying in the pool, and like green sea waves, undulating in the wind.

       The lotus is a refreshing green in the long summer. Fresh green lotuses leaves make me forget the irritability of the heat and the troubles of trivial matters. It is also a journey to clean my heart to devote myself to the fragrant lotus pond and all I can see are fine wine and precious jade.
