    Today, there is a new art exhibition at Lingdong Museum of Arts. It is a specially planned exhibition of Lingdong Museum of Arts. The art works exhibited are oil paintings. The author has a deep knowledge. She is a Ph.D. from the study of art. As all we know, the academic knowledge of a doctor should be very strong. For fine arts, she studied the history of oriental art. Therefore, she should have a deeper knowledge. There is no doubt about her unique knowledge of art. But her writings are not like these paintings. The benefit of painting is because of simplicity. It is an art of color. For the painting, we can see at a glance what she is painting for and thinking of. It would not be that easy if we just read the article. After all, there is always a benefit of painting compared to writing.

    In addition, Ms. Siu has started to paint for seven years. During the period between 2011 and 2014, most of her paintings were more realistic and more decorative. From 2015 and onwards, her style has slowly turned into more abstractive. She has expressed an emotional feeling which is an art of blur. Through her paintings, we can walk into the painter's inside world and see her painting concept and personal style formed by her living environment, family background and cultural education. In her early paintings, regarding those decorative and realistic lotus ponds, she used the oil painting strokes to depict flowers and leaves in order to produce the effect of emboss, which is a way of strong expression. From 2015 onwards, she has expressed the moonlight of lotus pond with some poetic feelings at her relatively abstract and blurry paintings. I think these expressions and changes are full of modern sense. Because Hong Kong is also a city of modern international development, there are a large number of modern art exhibitions from various countries around the world every year. Besides, Ms. Siu's artistic background from her own family, her contacts with some artists, her insights, and the books she reads as well as her knowledge all can be displayed on her oil paintings. We can definitely feel them. Everyone can feel differently about the artwork. I thought she is a very outstanding person, an outstanding young person, and a very modern painter. Her oil painting has its own distinct style. She is still growing and she is still developing. She will have a promising future.

    We can feel her living environment from her works. She lives in an international metropolis like Hong Kong. Every year, there are many large-scale exhibitions of modern works from different countries in the world which have some influence on her paintings. In addition, she has held a doctorate degree of art. Based on her knowledge and understanding of art, we can feel her interpretation of art through her paintings. Some of her works are more figurative and more decorative. The others are more abstract. Either those between figurative and abstract, or completely abstract, we can all see why the painter wants to paint like that. One is her understanding of the aesthetics of painting and the other is her feeling. Through those comparatively abstract pictures, she expresses a thought, a feeling, and an artistic accomplishment. With pictures of a large number of moonlights, water reflections, and lotus-shaped symbols, her works really show a modern expression of youthfulness and modernity as well as her very own unique pursuit.

    The most impressive are those almost blurry dotted lines like the moonlight and reflection, which are more often found in abstract paintings. The reflection of the lotus leaf in the water and the blurry moonlight are quite impressive on the semi-abstract paintings. The impression is more profound in some early decorative paintings, while the paintings of the lotus leaves are painted with some oil painting brushwork and the colors are piled up in a thick way. Although she has been influenced by Monet's paintings as a heuristic, it is still her picture with her own style. Monet basically belongs to some kind of realistic painting method from impressionism. While many of her works are relatively abstract and are considered as a way of expressing emotions. This kind of abstract emotional expression is relatively common in Chinese ink painting. She is a Chinese literary person. Her works are bound to be influenced by Western paintings, as well as the Chinese people's own homeland sentiments. All of these are revealed naturally on her works. She can create her own works only in this way. It is not that good if she just imitate Western painting completely. Since she has a lot of her own approach and inspiration, her works have become more personalized with comparative prominence.

        今天是岭东美术馆迎来一个新的画展,是特别策划的岭东美术馆的画展,作品是油画。作者有很深的学问,她是一个研究艺术学的博士,应该讲,我们都知道,博士的学问很深了。对美术,她是研究东方艺术史,所以在学问上应该是比较深的,对艺术有独到的见解,毫无疑问的。但是她的这些文字不像这些画,绘画的好处就是因为简单,它是色彩艺术。我们从这个画上面,一眼就能够看出来,这个人她在画什么,她在想什么,但是要读文章就比较不容易,毕竟画有画的好处。

        另外,萧女士这个画也画了七年了,她在11到14年这段,多数画的是比较写实的,装饰性比较强的;15年以后呢,风格慢慢转向了比较抽象的,表达一种情怀的,表达一种情感的,一种朦胧的艺术。我们通过她的油画,走进了画家的内心世界,看到了画家的生活环境,她的家庭背景,她的文化教养,所形成的一种绘画理念,形成的一种个人风格。早期的画里面,这些比较装饰性的、写实的荷塘,她在画花、叶子的时候,利用了油画的一些笔触,产生了一种浮雕的效果,是比较强烈表达的一种方式。15年以后,比较抽象的、朦胧的这些绘画里边,表达的如荷塘月色,一些富有诗意的情怀。我觉得这些表达和变化就非常有现代感。因为香港也是现代国际发展的城市,每年都有大量的一些世界各国的现代的艺术作品展览。还有萧女士她自己家庭的艺术背景,她接触过的一些艺术家,她的见识,她读的书,她的学问,都是可以留在她的这些油画作品上面,让我们感受。对于美术作品,每个人感受是千差万别的。我感觉她是一个很杰出的人,杰出的青年,一个很现代的画家。她的油画,有自己的明显的风格。她还在成长,还在发展,她前途无量。

        我们从她的作品可以感受她生活的环境。她生活在香港这样一个国际大都市。每年世界各国这种大型的展览,一些现代的作品,对她的画有一定的影响。另外她是艺术学的博士。她对艺术的认知和理解,通过她的这些油画,可以感受到她对艺术的一种解释和认识。她的作品里面有一部分是比较具象的,有装饰性比较强的。另外很大一部分是比较抽象的。或者是具象和抽象之间的,或者是完全抽象的作品。可以看出画家为什么要这样画。一个是她对绘画对审美的一些理解,再一个就是一种情怀。通过这种比较抽象的画面,表达一种思绪、一种情怀、一种艺术修养。大量的这种荷塘月色、水中的倒影、莲花形成的符号一样的画面,使作品有一种年轻人的、现代思想现代感的一种表达,很有自己一种独特的追求。

        印象深刻的是几乎很朦胧的,一些点线,像月色、倒影,就是画面比较多在抽象的绘画里面。半抽象的绘画里面,荷叶在水中的倒影、朦胧的月色,这些是比较印象深刻的。早期一些装饰性的绘画里面,画荷花荷叶一些油画的笔触,颜色的高堆、堆得很厚的方式,印象比较深刻。她受莫奈绘画的影响是一种启发式的,但画面上还是她自己的。莫奈基本上是印象派一种写实的画法,她的作品很多都是比较抽象的,是情感表达的一种方式。这种抽象的情感表达方式,在中国水墨画上是比较常能见到的。她是一位中国的文化人,她的作品必然是受西方绘画的影响作用下,还有中国人自己的家国情怀,在作品中间自然流露。这样才能创造出属于她自己的作品来。如果完全模仿西方绘画,那也不好。她有很多自己的处理方法,自己的感悟,所以使作品个性化,个性比较张扬。
