Enjoyment in Divine Wandering

“One day Peng, the giant bird flies with the wind, it ascends on a vast whirlwind journey.” (quotation from Li Bai's “To Li Yong”) The giant bird “Peng” symbolizes freedom and also represents shocking ideals and aspirations. In “Enjoyment in Untroubled Ease”, Zhuang Zi, a great thinker of the mid-Warring States, used his peculiar imagination to show the spectacular scene of an enormous legendary fish transforming into a giant bird as well as the big bird migrating from the north to the south, to convey the spirit of “Enjoyment in Untroubled Ease”. “Wandering” is an unfettered and free state of mind. “Enjoyment in Divine Wandering” is the spiritual understanding of nature after transcending the shackles of the body. In Taoist philosophy, the relationship between man and nature is “the induction between heaven and man”. Only by breaking down the barriers of the world can we return to nature and achieve the spiritual state of “I am at one with everything”.

In this series, I use color as the language to blend and dye out the different postures of the lotus pond. Here, the lotus pond is not a concrete flower and leaf, but a combination of colors. The lotus pond is like a free soul dancing on the paper. Different colors express rich visual impressions, which can arouse more emotional resonance than detailed depictions. The green color is elegant and ethereal, like the mist in the morning or the new rain in early summer. It is a symbol of vitality. The green hue is reminiscent of the vast expanse of the lotus pond. The green lotus leaves are refreshing and dispel the summer heat. The warm orange-red color is a symbol of bright sunshine and the joy of autumn and harvest. The elegant dreamy purple is not only a gorgeous glow, but also an extension of the dream.

I appreciate the beauty of the lotus pond in the world of colors. The joy of nature emerges in the flowing paints and rich textures. The image of the lotus pond spread out in front of my eyes with such romantic brushstrokes. The result is I couldn’t help but ride on the wind to enjoy the divine wandering around the world.
